Launching "disasters"
Few months back, "Power" was launched. And now comes "Tech Services". Generally, every launch will be expected to be good or do good or atleast "look" good, especially to employees of/related to same company. But we, the so called "proud employees" of our company should'nt be doing that. In fact, its normal to find these people banging their heads against walls, tables or..u name it...any thing thats good enough to hit your head against. Wondering why? well, heres the answer!! sorry..answers to be precise.
When Power was launched, like any other company, strategy played a crucial role in the launch. But if you think it made people (read proud employees of our company) happy, you are terribly mistaken. Heres the strategy. The caller tune of Reliance mobile customers who dont have a caller tune was changed to the "Go India POWER......Ta RuM Pum POWER. Sab ko hein POWER" (actually I dont remember the words). Its like a group of men shouting crazily at the person who happened to call to your Reliance mobile!!!
Now the R'nce mobile customers have two ways out.
1. Let it be their call back tune as long as the company wishes and promote the publicity of Power.
2. If not, change the caller tune to whatever they like and add to the company's profit (or their loss...call whichever you want)
Now coming to Tech Services, its just the IT part of our company cut apart and operate under it with the new name. A presentation was held to all the employees who come under this after its launch. Each group had the presentation on different times and dates but the ultimate message stayed the same.
After the usual "blah blah blah" came the LOL "blah blah blah":
Questionnaire looked something like this....
->Is there a salary hike?
NO
->Is it going to be a 5 day week schedule?
NO
->Is there any change in working hours per day or any flexible time kinda thing?
NO
->Is your superior changing?
NO
After so many more NOs, here are some YESes
->Is there a new chance?
YES. You get the broader scope of working field when working for IT company rather than a Telecom company
->Is your payslip going to bear the new name?
YES
->Is your no. of leaves going to stay same?
YES
So whats going to change?
Your ID card and your company name.
Thats it!!!
And you might be wondering by this time about the "launch party". Well theres more for us employees in store.
On saturday, we were asked to collect R.T.S shirts (instead of distributing at the work stations as they always do about the "special offers" about Reliance Power, Reliance Money, Big TV etc) which bear a print on the back saying "a new star is born". Mind you, this print will not even last for the first wash.
And heres the schedule for monday!!
Venue: F-Block food court, D.A.K.C
Time: Evening 3:00 PM
Event: Official presentation and talk about RTS
Next Event: Jhoom Barabar Jhoom DJ at 3:15 PM
After that: Snacks at 3:45 PM
need to elaborate more??
PS: Sorry for the weary long post but my frustration found out the best way it can.
PPS: Am writing this at almost 3:00 AM in the morning and I got to sleep and then wake up in the morning, goto office and "enjoy" the launch ceremony in the evening.
