Looking back...

After a tiresome trek up and down the hill, every muscle seems to beg for a timeout.

But the soul doesn't seem to be satisfied with the visual treat yet.

The mind lingers to the breath-taking pictures and tends to imagine the scenic-beauties beyond the ghats.
And then, amidst the fray, when he feels disappointed with himself, his eyes fall upon an old person peacefully heading to the destination he sought after, even while his meager posture looks barely standing.
After a few minutes, he recalls a story he read many years back at school.
He lets out a smile, that seems content.
He calls out the old man and offers him the bun and water he has been saving for the journey all along.
The old man was very alert and instantly turned his way.
He gestured as if he is happy to see someone else striding the same path, but refusing the offer.
Still musing at the old man's gesture, he goes back to his childhood days thinking how his thinking pattern changed.

Those were the days when he used to think that he has been gifted with good health and intelligence.
He used to think that he needed only a small house with a grand view of mother nature, little savings, and a lot of free time to get back to his passions and hobbies.
He would not let the worries bother him as he was sure he would only be wasting his time bothering about things he cannot control and invited change every time it crossed paths with him.
He wanted to experience what little joy he can find in all the things he got to do.
While his friends started pursuing their goals which they planned out neatly, he felt like he lacked the sense of setting goals. To him, it seemed like building a wall around his creativity and passions.
He just wanted to lead a life with no regrets.

The fact that he seemed dissatisfied with himself made him smile, wondering how brain starts behaving foolish as it gets old, rather than thinking wisely.
Not only that, he observed that he seemed to take things for granted and inviting sadness in his otherwise gleeful life.
He also realised that he needs to be determined while thinking positively, to enjoy the stay on this planet :)
