Hit the road! - part 2
The return journey to Hyderabad on 17th Jan 2012 was another nightmare! Read on to see how it all happened.
This year Sankranthi celebrations were good.
Had a great time with family.
And on sunday we tried to get the tyre repaired but the shopwala said tht the puncture is too big to be patched.
So planned to get a new tyre on tuesday before starting to Hyderabad as all the shops would be closed on monday for festival.
But on tuesday the shopwala insisted on getting the new tyre in Hyderabad as I could get the good ones there and that the tubeless ones wont get flat so easily.
So I started off after getting the wheel alignment done

So I started off after getting the wheel alignment done
I thought of starting early in the morning but ended up starting late in the afternnon.
Soon after sunset, ill luck greeted us at around 6:45 PM as a huge pothole when the incoming light blinded us.
Again the same tyre puncture scene. This time, the air pressure reduced in no time.
And this time, no spare wheel, no jack, no spanner... and no charge in mobile.
The only good thing is that theres a village nearby.
And obviously, the puncture would be irreparable this time as well.
The tubeless tyre size is not so common and it would not be available in the nearby town.
Called up a cousin and finally planned to get a tube for the punctured stepney tyre to get it running temporarily.
Now after getting the tube from the nearby town, I couldnt find a jack anywhere.
And getting back, we again got clueless about the jack.
Since we couldn't find one in the village also, we tried our luck trying to stop the passing vehicles and ask for one.
Somehow we got a truck jack and then got one side of the car off road, and used some stones to get it further up and finally... we removed the rear tyre and put the tyre with tube there (to avoid weight on the tubed one)

And when we tried to remove the punctured front tyre, the bolts just wont loosen! They were very tight... so much that the spanner we got from the locals broke!!
With nothing else to do, we tried stopping the vehicles for spanner.
Somehow we got 2 bolts and 2 more were remaining.
After 11
PM, we thought that the vehicles wont stop and we decided to sleep in the car for the night.
The next day morning we tried again.
My cousin went to a nearby mechanic shop as the locals insisted that they might be having the correct
spanner.
Meanwhile a xylo stopped by and we checked the spanner ... and it worked.. so replaced the tyre (at around 9 AM) and started again.. reached Hyd at 2 PM..I went straight to my office after dropping my cousin.

So total 24 hrs time for our journey... for covering 350 KM.
The round trip proved to be too time and money consuming!
Phew... thats the Hyd return story! :P
